The Mine Awareness Program seminar spans 3&¼ hrs with the first 15 min required for registration. Please Note Pre booking is essential and pre payment recommended.

STAGE 1: INFORMATION SEMINAR IN FOUR PARTS
Part 1. A seminar which will include a 2 ½ hr presentation of information regarding mining industry working
and living conditions, followed by a ½ hr discussion on developing a resume, and seeking financial advice.
Topics will include....

1. Gaining mining Industry access
2. Mining Competencies
3. Apprenticeships / Traineeships
4. Getting A Job
5. Mine Locations
6. Travel to Mine Locations
7. Fatigue Management
8. Shift Rosters
9. Accommodation
10. Food & Other Provisions
11. Forms of Available Communications
12. Maintaining Your Family Life
13. Income Management
14. Leave: Annual, Sick & Long Service
15. Mine Work Expectations & Support
16. Out Of Work Activities: Sport, Etc
17. Harassment / Discrimination
18. Living with Cultural and Gender Diversity
19. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
20. Becoming a Competent Operator
21. Summary

Part 2. Following the presentation, participants will be given the following options to consider.
OPTION 1. Decide to continue with a selection of the following....

• If required, make an appointment to have a mine specific resume produced,
• If required, make an appointment to receive financial advice for managing income
• Request an appointment for a coal board medical,
• Sign up for a Generic Induction course,
• Competency transfers, converting civil licenses to mining competencies,
• Training for civil and / or mining licenses, Haul trucks, Dozer, Loader, Excavator, etc,
• Register to complete a Cert II in Surface Extraction Operations

Stage 1: COAL BOARD MEDICAL (List of available doctors provided), and
Stage 2: GENERIC INDUCTION (surface) (Courses on Gold Coast, Brisbane, etc), and / or
Stage 3: COMPETENCY TRANSFERS (Training & theory / Practical assessments) and / or
Stage 4: TRAINING FOR CIVIL AND / OR MINING LICENSES, and / or
Stage 5: OPERATE A LIGHT VEHICLE / DEFENSIVE DRIVING for mines, and / or
Stage 6: RII20209 Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations (Yet to be confirmed).
OPTION 2. Go no further.
